More Info: The mission statement of the Urgent Care Association of America reads, “UCAOA exists to encourage and facilitate the development and the success of urgent care centers and the urgent care industry.”
The annual convention of UCAOA has talks and workshops for clinical staff physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and for administrative staff. Subjects covered at the annual conference include starting and urgent care center, billing & coding, urgent care procedure workshops, occupational medicine, marketing, negotiating managed care contracts and many other topics relevant to urgent care centers.
Offers accreditation, allowing urgent care centers to demonstrate a commitment to quality standards in the delivery of urgent care medicine. Inspectors make onsite visits to make sure that standards are being carried out on a daily basis at the centers.
With approximately two new urgent care centers opening nationwide every week, it is clear that growth of the industry is not slowing. Industry growth is fueled from many sectors, including: public demand for more access to urgent care, many underserved communities with regard to urgent care services, hospital systems wishing to facilitate convenient access to their systems, and the entrepreneurial drive of some primary care and emergency physicians.
